Bus Acquisition Data: ADA Inventory and Report Check
Keep the vehicle facts separate from the filing decision. For an over-the-road-bus (OTRB) fleet, maintain a dated inventory of buses bought or leased, whether each was new or used, and whether each bus is accessible. That record helps the operator answer accessibility questions even when an old annual-report template is not the right form to file.
What the rule text describes
49 CFR 37.213(d) describes an annual bus-acquisition summary for OTRB operators: counts of new and used buses purchased or leased during the preceding year, how many in each category are accessible, the total fleet count, and operator contact information. This is a distinct subject from accessible-service requests and ridership/lift-use counts.
Check current submission instructions before filing
The rule text still describes an annual submission, but FMCSA’s September 2025 enforcement manual noted expired Paperwork Reduction Act approvals for OTRB information-collection requirements. Before sending a report, check whether those approvals have since been renewed and confirm current FMCSA instructions for your operator category. Do not use an old Form D mailing address or named contact without that check. For the related issue, see our accessible-service annual-summary guide.
Separate help for records and fleet planning
LBC Fleet’s compliance-services directory is a starting point for administrative record support. If you are planning when to replace or acquire vehicles, its outsourced fleet-management service describes vehicle lifecycle and replacement planning. That operational service does not determine whether an ADA report is due or whether a particular bus meets accessibility requirements.
This is an inventory and reporting-status guide, not a current filing form or legal determination.
