Blog Post: FMCSA Moves to Remove Non-Compliant Medical Examiners—What Texas-Area Drivers Need to Know

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has taken decisive action to remove two Houston-area medical examiners from the National Registry due to non-compliance with regulations for physical qualification examinations of commercial drivers. This move is part of FMCSA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring roadway safety and upholding the integrity of the medical certification process.

What Happened?

FMCSA has proposed the removal of Drs. Jenny Le and Dustin Mai—both Doctors of Chiropractic—from the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. After an investigation by multiple federal agencies, it was found that these providers did not properly apply the required physical qualification standards for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. As a result:

  • Over 15,000 medical certificates issued between March 2023 and March 2025 have been voided.

  • Drivers affected must obtain new Medical Examiner’s Certificates (MECs) by May 10, 2025.

  • Failure to do so may result in a CDL downgrade by the respective State Driver Licensing Agency (SDLA).

What This Means for Our Clients

If you are a driver or an employer based in the Texas area, or if your MEC was issued by either Dr. Le (Registry No. 4762579227) or Dr. Mai (Registry No. 7120983977), your certificate may be affected.

We’re Here to Help

We are proactively reviewing all medical certificates for our Texas-area clients to determine whether any are impacted by this FMCSA action. If your certificate is affected, we will contact you directly and assist in scheduling a compliant medical exam as soon as possible.

In the meantime, you can check the FMCSA website or reach out to us with any questions.

🚛 Don’t wait until the deadline. Get ahead of the curve and ensure your compliance today.
